Our vision:

To be a joyful church that is passionate about Jesus

and that connects with our community through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Outworked through:                        Belonging, Changing, Serving & Discipling

Brief History: The Sanctuary Church was planted in 1995 from a large charismatic church in Birmingham.  Three members of that church were called by God to Bristol with a desire to share the gospel and tell people about Jesus.  A driving scripture was Ephesians 4:11&12 To equip the saints for the work of the ministry and the building up of the Church. Out of that vision, a small group of people began to meet and pray together, and very quickly a large church began to form as lives were touched and transformed.  In 1999 they were able to step out in faith and purchase a vacant cinema on the crossroads of Staple Hill that had stood empty for a decade.  This building became the home of The Sanctuary Church and is still the central meeting hub of the church community today.

Our story of what God has done, serves as part of our vision for God's transforming power to touch lives in the North/East of the City and throughout Bristol. We stand as a gateway Church for our City, as we pray for God to intervene and help us to change the atmosphere. God has so much more for the Church in Bristol as we step out in faith and do the things Jesus did.
